State  of  Matter

The need to grasp phenomena, in order to access technical and ecological challenges, exceeds the range of human perception. Dimensions have changed from textiles to semiconductors to proteins, from physical to digital interactions at the same time as global phenomena like climate change or biodiversity loss are blowing up scales in size and time. At the same time this disruption of scale implies an increase of complexity where tools become increasingly harder to access.
In order to gain access to these phenomena a high level of abstraction, the patience to attentively look at things as well as an oscillation between dirty hands and a reflective mind are required.
